Writers2000 member Mrs Burgie Ireland recently led a workshop for fellow writers.

She challenged the group to supplement conventional family legacies of pictures, paintings, ornaments and other tangible memorabilia, with a written record of the family history as known and seen by the writer.

She led the workshop attendees through the practical steps of tackling the task, including in-depth research and preparation.

Mrs Ireland also referred to the resources available such as diaries, letters, emails, and the stories told by members of family’s older generation.

Focus was given to suggested formats and structures including life maps and related basics.
