Yeoville police arrested 45 suspects from 15 to 22 January. They were arrested for committing crimes ranging from assault to murder and rape.
The suspects were arrested for the following:
- 1 for attempted murder
- 1 for attempted rape
- 1 for housebreaking and theft
- 1 for robbery with a weapon other than a firearm
- 16 for assault with intention to cause grievous bodily harm
- 2 for common robbery
- 2 for theft out of a motor vehicle
- 1 for common assault
- 2 for possession of drugs
- 4 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- 1 for reckless and negligent driving
- 2 for possession of suspected stolen property
- 5 for possession of stolen motor vehicle
- 1 for possession of a dangerous weapon
- 1 for fraud
- 2 for theft
- 2 for shoplifting
“The suspects have appeared in different courts and some have paid their fines, while others are out on bail and others remained in prison,” said Yeoville police spokesperson, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.
