Residents clean up Bedfordview

The Clean Up Bedfordview campaign kicked off on January 16.

In his quest to make Bedfordview great again, resident Mr Nick Rogerson pulled out all the stops to organise a one-of-a-kind project.

On January 10, Mr Rogerson called on the residents to come together and clean up Bedfordview.

“Anyone keen to start cleaning up Bedfordview? I have trucks, some spades, forks and petrol. We need volunteers, petrol weed eaters, gut, plant poison to kill weeds,” read Mr Rogerson’s call to action on social media.

The Clean Up Bedfordview campaign kicked off on January 16.

Residents came out in their numbers to clean up the main roads of Bedfordview.

Mr Rogerson said he was grateful for the support showed by the community to his vision.

“I am happy to see that my fellow community members feel the same way about our town. My goal is to restore a sense of pride in residents of this town. People must love living here and being part of the community. I am excited for the future,” said Mr Rogerson.

He also thanked residents who assisted in the planning ahead of the event.

“I would not have done this without the help of the team that I worked with. Thank you to every single one of them. Special thanks to Mr Dorian Barella for all his hard work,” said Mr Rogerson.

Ward 20 Councillor, Clr Jill Humphreys, thanked Mr Rogerson for his community spirit.

“Now it is up to the rest of us to continue with this wonderful initiative to do our best to keep our Bedfordview beautiful. Of course it’s infuriating that we are already paying for services that we are not getting, but it’s unlikely to improve. Hence we need all hands on deck to make sure we clean up our lovely town,” said Clr Humphreys.

Mr Rogerson said another cleanup has been organised for January 28.

“Interested residents can join us at the intersection of Kloof and Van Buuren roads,” said Mr Rogerson.
