Suspect nabbed with hijacked vehicle

PARK MEADOWS – A 31-year-old suspect will appear in court facing charges of hijacked motor vehicle.

Metro police officers arrested a 31-year-old suspect for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle at Park Meadows Shopping Centre in Bedfordview on 9 January.

This after officials were on duty when they discovered a suspicious-looking white Ford Ranger LDV.

According to the spokesperson for Cleveland Police Station, Captain Johan Jordaan, the officials tested the vehicle registration number and found that the car had been hijacked in Sebenza. “Officers observed the car and after a while, one man walked to the vehicle and climbed into the driver side of the vehicle and started it. They immediately blocked the vehicle and arrested a 31-year-old suspect,” said Jordaan.

The suspect was taken to Cleveland Police Station and was held for possession of a hijacked vehicle. “He was later transferred to Sebenza Police Station and the case will also be investigated by Sebenza police detectives. We would like to thank the loyal members of Metro police for their excellent work in the Cleveland policing area.”
