Christmas message from Jeppe police

JOHANNESBURG – Message from Jeppe police station.

Jeppe police have sent a special Christmas message to the community.

It is the festive season and people will be going away on holidays and to their homes in different provinces and countries. “We as Jeppe police, will continue policing the area and we will be keeping the residential and business places safe, as officers will be deployed in all sectors,” said Jeppe police spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyai.

He also advised residents to inform their neighbours of when they leave so that they can keep a watchful eye on their homes. “They should ensure that the lights are switched on and off, as leaving them on all the time, during night and day, will show criminals that there is no one in the house.

“Residents should get someone to stay in the house to keep guard rather than leaving the house unattended.

“We would like to thank the residents who worked with us in fighting crime by either giving us information, assisting in preventing crime and arresting of perpetrators, attending sector crime forum and community policing forum meetings, and those who attended campaigns and events such as the Imbizo, Outreach and other programmes we had throughout the year. “We also want to thank teachers and learners at schools for inviting us during their events, particularly Jules High School that invited us to their career exhibition to guide their learners about the police services. Hopefully, other schools will follow suit.”

The community can expect the police to work hard during the holidays. “We can’t afford to go on leave and leave residents not being taken care of. The officers will be taking some days off as [we are] working shifts and relieving each other. There will, however, be enough police deployment and the community will be seeing police vans doing patrols in their sectors.

“Next year we will increase our visibility since we are expecting the community to join us as police reservists to assist with manpower. We continue our appeal to the community to come forward and join the police in order to reduce crime within our policing precinct.

He also encouraged those with a matric to keep on checking if posts within the police force are being advertised. “Posts will be advertised when they are available. Read the newspapers, check on the internet or visit the station,” he concluded.
