Local trampolinists succeed in international competition

This was a great achievement for both of the trampolinists.

Two local trampolinists qualified and represented South Africa in the annual Region 5 international competition for SADC countries.

Dylan Humphries and Ethan Strydom are part of the Edenvale-based Gym Masters Gymnasts Club.

The competition took place in Harare, Zimbabwe, from December 7 to 11.

Dylan Humphries qualified in the Junior Male Trampoline and Junior Male DMT events, and won silver medals in both individual events, as well as gold as part of Team SA.

This was Dylan’s second time participating in this competition.

Ethan Strydom qualified in the Junior Male Trampoline event and won gold medals in the individual event, and also gold as part of Team SA.

This was a great achievement for both of the trampolinists, exceeding previous results and expectations for the competition.

The gymnasts showed good progression throughout the season and a continual improvement in the quality of execution of their routines.

This was due to the consistent and continued hard work throughout the year by the gymnasts and the trampoline coaching staff at the club, in particular Dmitry Demianenko, Michelle Sharples and Alex Demianenko.

The gymnasts who reside in Edenvale and Kensington respectively, also received Federation Colours for representing the SA Gymnastics Federation.

The gymnasts train at the Highway Gardens Community Centre.
