Councillors wish residents a happy festive season

Johannesburg – Councillors wish all resident a happy festive season and look forward to a New Year

Family and friends will be meeting and sharing year-long stories of achievements and challenges.

The year has been a challenging one for many. Ward 65 councillor Lindani Zulu with Ward 61 councillor Vusumuzi Zondo and Ward 61 PR councillor Alison Roberts from the African National Congress want to wish residents a wonderful festive season.

“We wish to thank the residents for their support during the election. We will endeavour to serve the community to the very best of our ability. The year has been full of challenges but we survived the year and are looking forward to 2017,” said Roberts.

The councillors said their wards faced major challenges throughout the year but managed to work together as a community and that is uBuntu. The councillors said, “It was the elections and soon after that we faced water restrictions, three shack fires and various other issues. It is devastating to see the suffering of residents who have to lose everything in a shack fire but with Johannesburg Disaster Management, NGOs and community support, their lives were made a little easier. Those are times you get to witness the spirit of community support.”

Roberts said she is looking forward to next year and she’s asking for the community to continue supporting her in collecting household items, blankets and toiletries for needy households in emergencies.

Zulu and Zondo said they are finding their feet and are looking forward to next year as well. “We’ve been addressing service delivery issues, holding community meetings to meet our constituents and outreach programmes for Christmas for the children and elderly,” said Zondo.

The councillors urged residents to look after themselves over the festive season and to travel safely. “We wish our residents a warm and blessed festive season with their families and a very happy New Year,” said Zulu.
