Police vigilance pays off

The vigilance of the Edenvale SAPS paid off when a man was arrested in Edenvale on December 11.

The suspect was arrested for the possession of suspected stolen property.

Working together to prevent crime

According to Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, an alert went out earlier that day for the police to be on the lookout for a suspicious vehicle driving through Edenvale.

Capt Olckers said during the course of the day, while looking for the vehicle, the Edenvale SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrested the suspect.

“The Crime Prevention Unit found the suspect in the vehicle with what appeared to be suspected stolen property,” said Capt Olckers.

R7 5000 worth of drugs confiscated

He said the suspect has since been arrested and that the Edenvale SAPS is investigating whether or not the suspect is linked to any house burglaries.

“At this stage the suspect will face charges of possession of suspected stolen property, ” said Capt Olckers.

Capt Olckers said when information is shared the SAPS follows it up to the best of its capability.

“Information is always welcome,” said Capt Olckers.
