The injured suspect was transported from the scene under police guard.

The chase, which began along the N1 highway, involved a hijacked motor vehicle. The car was hijacked in Edenvale earlier in December.

“The same vehicle was involved in an armed robbery in Roodepoort on Wednesday morning,” said Sergeant Sharon Mahamba-Tsotsotso, the Sebenza SAPS spokesperson.

Sgt Tsotsotso said following the Roodepoort incident, members of the SAPS were told to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

According to Sgt Tsotsotso, members of the SAPS noticed the vehicle on the N1 and gave chase.

The chase progressed to the N3 freeway and then to the Longmeadow area where suspects lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the fence of a business.
