Each year, the residents of Inyoni Creek host a variety of activities to warm the hearts of those living at Thembalami.

November 23 saw a handful of Inyoni Creek residents putting together the care packages for not only the Thembalami residents, but also those from the Max Ordman Deaf Association, which has merged with the Rand Aid Association, and some residents of the Wedge Gardens treatment centre, who are always willing to go the extra mile to assist Thembalami. Wedge Gardens is also Rand Aid-run.

In December, the Inyoni Angels, as this compassionate group calls itself, will join in the fun at Thembalami’s Christmas party, with one of their members donning a Santa suit and handing out the gifts. Each year, the Angels hold monthly birthday bashes for the Thembalami residents. They also help them mark special occasions like Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and, of course, Christmas. Donations for the events come from Inyoni Creek residents as well as their families and friends.

For more information on Thembalami, or if you would like to donate toiletries, clothes or goodies towards the Christmas party, call Ms Elize Raath on 011 882-4434.
