#YourStory – Local singer brings out third CD

"You have to be the best and give it your all at that point in time."

Local singer and song writer Mrs Bridget Tinniswood recently released her third CD, 11 years since her previous CD release.

Mrs Tinniswood, who works at the Edenvale Methodist Church, said her passion for singing developed around her discovery of faith when she was 18 years old.

She has always been fascination with music and has a desire to be creative and to share her creativity.

In her latest release Yes, Mrs Tinniswood said she wanted to tell the life of Jesus through the eyes of Mary, his mother.

“I find Mary an interesting character,” said Mrs Tinniswood.

She said the CD will be part of a series which will see more CDs to come to continue the story.

“The next CD should come out next year. I have already started working on it,” said Mrs Tinniswood.

Mr Douglas Hook, a former musician and producer who worked with Mrs Tinniswood, said the greatest satisfaction was realised when everything came together and the song was almost completed.

“When everything is ready and the song only needs to be edited – that is best part,” said Mr Hook.

According to Mr Hook, one of the greatest challenges during the process was the ever-increasing standard of music.

He said it is important to keep on improving on oneself.

“You have to be the best and give it your all at that point in time,” said Mrs Tinniswood.

Mrs Tinniswood defined her music as being gentle and upbeat.

“The music can be enjoyed by all ages but would probably be enjoyed most by adults,” said Mrs Tinniswood.

She said a lot of work went into the melodies of the songs as she did not want the songs to be repetitive. She hopes a broad range of people will enjoy her music.

Mrs Tinniswood said if there are any people who are in the community and who want to get into the singing industry, they need to make sure they are committed and stay loyal to who they are.

“Overnight success does not happen,” said Mrs Tinniswood.
