Smacked with arrest

JOHANNESBURG – Police arrest a man for possession of drugs.

Members of the South African Police Services made a major breakthrough when a man who allegedly had heroin with an estimated street value of R7 000 in his possession was brought to Jeppe Police Station.

Gauteng Railways Police officers were patrolling in Doornfontein on 19 November when they spotted a suspicious-looking person on the corner of Van Beek and Error streets.

“Police officials stopped and introduced themselves to the man and requested to search him. They did not find anything on his person and then asked to search a schoolbag he was carrying,” said Jeppe Police Station spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyai.

When they searched the bag, they allegedly found a wrapped packet containing small rocks suspected to be heroin. “They arrested him and took him to Jeppe Police Station where he was charged with possession of drugs and detained.”

The police investigation is continuing and the suspect will appear in court soon.

Details: Jeppe Police Station 011 624 6066.
