Carlos’ festive message

Joburg – Read councillor Carlos Da Rocha's festive season message for Ward 66 residents.

The festive season is upon us with just a few weeks left before family and friends gather to share Christmas cheer.

Ward 66 councillor Carlos Da Rocha has a message for residents. “This is my sixth year as a councillor and I must say 2016 was a trying year for me and many of us,” he said.

“We had power failures, water shortages, changes in our lives and the country. But looking back, good or bad we are still here. You have supported me as your councillor and I vow to continue serving the community and caring for the ward.”

Da Rocha said he appreciated the support and patience that the community had afforded him. “In a few weeks, we will bid farewell to 2016 and welcome 2017. I hope the new year will bring us comfort, safety, and happiness. Let us all start the new year on a positive note.”

He added that he looks forward to working with the community next year. “You give me strength to go forward. I have no doubt that 2017 will be no different as I believe we still have a long way to travel.

“With this message, I wish the community and friends that celebrate Christmas, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. To residents going away for the holidays, who are travelling, please drive safely and wherever you go, remain safe and come back home safely.”

He urged residents with furry friends not to leave them unattended and, if going away, to arrange with family or friends to look after their pets, and also to keep an eye on them if there are the usual fireworks.
