Business in Ekurhuleni has a new voice

The business council has been well-received by the business sector in Ekurhuleni.

Coordinating and fostering solid relations between the City of Ekurhuleni and the private sector is now easier following the launch of a Business Council recently.

“To date, over 41 000 businesses across 8 000 industries are conducting business with the Metro,” said the Ekurhuleni executive mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, during the launch of the business council.

According to Clr Masina, this number demands the city’s increased and smooth cooperation with business.

“We have set up an interim advisory board to begin work that will ensure the council is inclusive of every sector in order to achieve one voice for business,” the mayor said.

The business council has been well-received by the business sector in Ekurhuleni.

“We are excited about this initiative because it will open wide access to the city’s leadership, which is important for investment. I would encourage every business forum to be part of the council. It’s cold and lonely out there,” said Chris Van Biljon, the chief executive officer of the Ekurhuleni Business Initiative.

Chairperson of the interim advisory board, Thabang Hlanyane, has made an appeal to all business to be part of the council in order to contribute to the city’s growth and the advancement of the local economy.
