The sky is the limit for Mtsuweni

JOHANNESBURG - Queens High pupil wins three medals at the Prestige Athletics event.

Hlengiwe Ntsuweni, who is in Grade 10 at Queens High School, won three medals in the recent Prestige Athletics event.

She received medals for the 100metre and 200metre race, as well as the medal for the best female sprinter.

Ntsuweni said she was very excited about winning the awards. “I felt good and proud to know that I could achieve such outstanding goals and this boosts my confidence,” she said.

According to Ntsuweni she started participating in athletics in Grade one. “I was doing it as a hobby, I did not know that I would get this far,” said Ntsuweni.

“I took athletics as a hobby. I needed to stay away from alcohol and or drugs. I always give my all when I participate because I know that this sport will take me far one day.”

Ntsuweni was inspired by Siyabonga Mbatha. “He always aims higher and did not give up on his dream,” she said.

She said that when she grows up she wants to help people. “I would like to become a social worker,” she said.

Ntsuweni said she wants people to be confident and believe in themselves. “Never give up. Give the best in everything that you do.”
