Great results for Jeppe Fencing Club

Their commitment to fencing this year resulted in Jeppe Boys being awarded the Top Ranked School award.

Jeppe High School for Boys learners attended the Gauteng Fencing Association’s (GFA) annual dinner at the Wanderers Golf Club on November 19.

Their commitment to fencing this year resulted in Jeppe Boys being awarded the Top Ranked School award, with the boys winning 13 medals between them.

Alex Human, a grade 10 learner, has been fencing for a number of years. Travis Kroggel has been fencing for just over a year.

Alex was awarded his provincial colours for Senior Men’s Sabre and Cadet (U/17) Epee. Travis was awarded a cup and certificate for Top Ranked Fencer, Junior (U/20) Men’s Sabre and he was awarded Provincial Colours for Junior (U/20) Men’s Sabre.

The dinner was the cherry on top of an extremely eventful fencing year, with Travis taking a silver medal at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Tournament in late May in Epee and consistently winning medals throughout the year. Alex participated at provincial and national level, representing South Africa in France.

The Jeppe Fencing Club has grown over the last few months with Connor Holz, William Sakir, Sasha Mc Cabe (Jeppe Girls) and Selene Chiang (Midrand) joining.

Selene received an award at the GFA dinner on November 19. Their coach, Mr Vincent Human, has shown his commitment to the boys.
