Items recovered after hijacking in Sebenza

Couple arrested for possession of clothes allegedly hijacked on Friday last week in Sebenza. A bakkie and a lorry were used to transport the goods.

Two people were arrested by the police in Ivory Park’s Extension 14 over the weekend after they were allegedly found in possession of goods suspected to have been hijacked.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane, the two suspects, a man and a woman who are both 36 years old, were arrested for possession of many boxes containing clothes that were allegedly hijacked on Friday last week in Sebenza. A bakkie and a lorry were used to transport the goods.

“It looks like these clothes were destined for retail shops. The value of the recovered property cannot be quantified as yet.The value of the recovered property cannot be quantified as yet. The Isuzu bakkie, which was used to ferry the goods, and the vehicle that was used during the hijacking, have been recovered by the police. The suspects have made their first appearance in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court and the search for the other suspects is underway,” said Capt Matimulane.
