The Joburg East Police cluster, under the command of Major General Dimakatso Ndaba, completed a very successful joint operation in the Jeppe police precinct on 2 November.

The Metro police, City Power, and Emergency Management Services all participated in the joint operation. It targeted business and residential areas in Jeppestown and Belgravia along Jules street.

City Power disconnected a meter box at 288 Main street in Jeppestown after they discovered an illegal connection.

The police confiscated liquor after they discovered a 26-year-old man selling liquor without a licence,” said Jeppe Police Station spokesperson captain Richard Munyai. The 26-year-old was arrested and will appear in court soon.

“Five suspects were arrested in Jules Street after the police discovered that they had meter boxes belonging to City Power in their possession.

During the operation, the police visited panel beaters, mechanics, and second-hand dealers. Those who were contravening the law were given fines and others were warned, said Munyai.
