#YourStory – A heart which helps

JOHANNESBURG – When your dreams come true at such a young age, what do you do next? Read how one young author uses her dreams to help other children's realities.

Stacey Fru’s heart not only beats for reading and writing, but it also beats with purpose as she endeavours to make a difference in other children’s lives.
“I wish to help other children to learn to read and write,” said the nine-year-old multi-award winner author. Passionate about reading and writing, Fru is using her talent to make a difference in other children’s lives.

After writing two educational books at the age of eight, Smelly Cats and Bob and the Snake, Fru now plans to start a campaign with Eco-Children which will see 9 000 books donated to children all over South Africa. “I want to motivate them to read using my books through the Stacey Fru, a Child’s Book campaign.

“We are asking people, businesses and companies to help us to reach our target. The more children we reach, the more we will inspire to read and write.”

People can support the campaign by purchasing 1 000 copies or more of either one of Fru’s books which will then be donated through various means by Fru and the Eco-Children team.

“By donating my books, you and your team could help every child discover the joy of reading in receiving their first and, possibly, only book,” said Fru.

The Grade 3 pupil explained, “Writing is my passion and I would like to dedicate my young life to inspire humankind in general and at the same time entertain them through my writing.”

She hopes to change children’s lives with her books and motivational speaking. “Draw positive attention to yourself only, accept and complete your duties at home and at school, turn small ideas into big ideas, accept that life with friends cannot be good at all times, do not be nasty to each other, working hard so it can make you happy, do not be sad about the bad things that people think of you, and life is fun when you live responsibly.”
