Suspect nabbed with AK47

BELGRAVIA – Jeppe police have arrested a suspect who was wanted for business robbery in KwaZulu-Natal.

Jeppe police arrested a suspect found in possession of an AK47, a pistol and live ammunition in Mint Street in Belgravia on 2 November.

Jeppe Police Station spokesperson Captain Richard Munyai said police received a tip-off that a suspect, who was wanted for business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, was in the Belgravia area.

“The police proceeded to the given address [where they] found the suspect and arrested him. He was taken to Jeppe Police Station, where he was charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said Munyai.

The investigation continues and the suspect will appear in court soon.
