Queens High’s rising star

Johannesburg - Jane Calambe encourages other learners to believe in themselves in order to achieve their goals.

Jane Calamba, who is in Grade 8 at Queens High School was awarded a silver medal for the 100-metre race after competing in the recent Prestige Athletics competition.

“I started participating in sport in 2013 when I was still in primary school,” said Calamba. She said she was encouraged by her parents and her friends, who always support her in anything that she participates in.
“My parents inspire me a lot. They always show support in every journey that I embark on,” she said.

Even though she has a dream of becoming a doctor, Calamba still uses and appreciates the athletics talent that she has. “I found myself in athletics as it is one of the talents that God has given me, but when I finish school I would like to become a doctor,” she said.

“Everything is possible when you put your mind to it. People should believe in themselves and they will succeed.”
