Duo launches their second app

Two former primary school friends and Bedfordview residents, Salvatore Barras and Kyriakos Ioulianou, are making strides in both the ICT and retail industry.
The duo’s mobile app, MiBrand, will soon be launched at seven shopping centres in the East Rand.
“Over 300 tenants in all seven shopping centres owned by Mr John Baladakis’ AJP Group, will feature a store page on the app which will mean fast access to all the stores’ information and their free vouchers.
Customers will also be able to share these free vouchers with their family and friends over social media. The app will be available by the end of this month,” said Salvatore.
The partners launched the app in July.
Since the launch, MiBrand has won the the People’s Choice Award at this year’s MTN Business App of The Year Awards.
The duo was also part of the finalists for the Best Enterprise Development App.
Some of the shopping centres include Atlas Mall, Kempton Gate, Glen Balad Mall, Aero Centre, Brentwood Mall and Birchleigh North Mall.
MiBrand allows residents to browse attractions and activities in their area, as well as specials in stores and restaurants nearby.
“We wanted to create a platform for businesses to interact directly with their target market – the residents. Before walking into a store you will already know what is on offer. People can make bookings directly from the app. They will also be able to get directions and share locations without having to open a different app. We wanted to give people a one-stop shop for all their needs. A quick access to all the things they want,” said Salvatore.
His partner, Kyriakos, said he was humbled by shoppers and residents’ reactions to the app.
“The app comes at no cost to the people. It is free to download and also offers coupons,” he said.
