Working together to prevent crime

The whistles were handed out to help combat crime at the shopping centre and surrounding areas.

The Social Crime Prevention Unit from the Edenvale SAPS donated whistles to security personnel at a local shopping mall.
The donation, which was made to personnel at the Greenstone Shopping Centre, was part of the Blow the Whistle on Crime initiative.

Donation put to good use

Security personnel were instructed by Sergeant Jacob Mashile, the head of the Social Crime Prevention Unit, to blow the whistle if they see a crime happening to attract the attention of other security personnel.

“The whistles were handed out to help combat crime at the shopping centre and surrounding areas,” said Sgt Mashile.

Ms Donna Lebenon, the Centre Manager, said it was a great initiative.
“The shopping centre enjoys working closely with the SAPS to reduce crime,” said Ms Lebenon
