‘Be on high alert during thunderstorms’ – Emergency Services

Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) is on high alert for any eventualities that might erupt as a result.

Following a thunderstorm and violent weather phenomena that can be dangerous, Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services Department (DEMS) would like to caution the residents across the City to be on high alert as thunderstorms can produce combination of lightning, flash flooding, very strong winds, hail and in extreme cases tornadoes.

Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) is on high alert for any eventualities that might erupt as a result. Communities affected by these adverse weather conditions, are advice to please contact the call centre immediately so as Disaster and Emergency Management Services can render swift intervention.

Precautions to follow during thunderstorms:

Residents are advised to listen to the radios and watch television for warnings and obey instructions accordingly.
