Members of the St Anthony Portuguese Church in Crown Mines met on Sunday to celebrate the Grand Pilgrimage of the Lady of Fatima.

The congregation met on Sunday, October 16.

At 2pm the congregation turned on their hazards lights and drove together to the Linksfield Shopping Centre in Edenvale, with the herald of Gospel playing good music.

Bikers and traffic police officers formed as an escort for the group.

The congregation, including all guests and priests, were entertained by various choirs, the heralds of Gospel and the Knights of Da Gama, from areas as far as Soweto.

The church’s Mrs Alexandra Da Silva said God had spoken to the congregation and had said a sanctuary must be built in the Linksfield area.

“We are simply here to land our Lady of Fatima where the future sanctuary will be built. A house for many souls. We are here to glorify the Son through the mother [Mary],” she said.
