JOBURG – Semone ready for final round of the pageant

The Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa grand finale is around the corner and finalists are getting ready for the big day. Semone Skosan and wife of Lions Ruby player Courtnell Skosan has been part of the journey.

The Express had a chat with her to find out how the journey has been so far and what she will be taking from it. “My journey with Mrs South Africa for the last six months has been absolutely life changing and I am truly grateful for the platform that [it] has given me to represent and empower married women in South Africa.”

She said one of the things she promised herself when she entered the competition was to remain true to herself. “I’ve learned to be brave and be unapologetically me. I made a promise to myself and family that I would be the same Semone everyone knows. “Something that stuck with me since the beginning of this journey is ‘BeYouToTheFull’ by Aldytha Da Silva. It has been so rewarding knowing I have been true to myself and others in my experience with Mrs South Africa.”

She said being part of the competition has afforded her the opportunity to meet amazing people who had played a big role in her life. The journey included a number of challenges that the finalists had to complete and some took them out of their comfort zones.

Skosan said the Suzuki road trip and lifestyle challenge had the biggest impact on her. “The challenge was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. The week consisted of life-changing experiences. We got to shoot at Shimmy Beach wearing amazing Miraclesuits and Hope Shades.”

She said this was the first time that she felt confident wearing swimwear after her weight loss. “We participated in the Fashion Flavour Art fashion show in support of Cansa. One of the final challenges for that week was the Suzuki hunt, which was almost like the amazing race. I was honoured to be the captain. Being the leader of the team and having won a number of awards had a huge impact on me.”

She said the competition gave her the opportunity for people to get to know her as herself and not just as Courtnall’s wife; she added that they had used the platform together to make a difference in others’ lives.

Skosan is gearing up for the grand finale of Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa. “I have been preparing myself physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually for the finale. The best part of it all is that I am returning to Emperors Palace, a better version of myself.”

She said the biggest thing any woman could walk out with from Mrs South Africa are the friends she made and the experience of meeting new people. “I am truly grateful to have met each and every one of them.

“I have learned something from each of them and going through this process with them has been phenomenal. I have been inspired by their stories and touched by their big hearts. All the memories made during this journey are unforgettable and I would hope to remain as close as we are, even after the finals.”

She also thanked her husband, family and closest friends for the sacrifices they made to help her follow her dreams. She said that, even after the competition, she plans to continue making a difference in people’s lives and using her life as an example.

The grand finale of Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa 2016 will be held on October 21 at Emperors Palace.
