Scouts celebrate birthday in style

The Eastleigh Sea Scout Group celebrated its 50th birthday in style recently.

The group hosted a fundraising event last Saturday at its premises at the Edenvale Sports Grounds.

Residents came along to celebrate with the group.

Former members were also in attendance for the group’s 50th reunion.

The group’s Troop Scouter, Mr Peter Sequeira, said he was happy with the turnout on the evening.

“People have really come out to celebrate with us and I am happy to see that,” said Mr Sequeira.

He said his dream for the group going forward was growth.

“I would like the current group to take up the responsibility and make this their own. I would like to see them celebrating the 100th birthday. I may not be around, but it would mean a lot to see them taking over where we left off,” he said.

The Scouts showed off their pioneering skills during the event.
