The City of Ekurhuleni invites tech-savvy and innovative minds to a weekend-long Hackathon to develop IT solutions that will help the City accelerate service delivery in an efficient manner.

The Ekurhuleni Hackathon will be held from September 30 to October 2 under the theme “A Digitally Connected City”. It will see close on 250 developers, web designers and engineers using various technologies, hardware and application programming interface’s (API) to turn their ideas into practical solutions for the municipality.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Mr Themba Gadebe said, the Hackathon challenges will be presented to the various teams to solve through Big Data, Analytics, Apps and Open Data. “The prototypes will be pitched on the last day of the Hackathon, where the winning teams will be selected by the judges for a share of R150 000 prize money,” said Mr Gadebe.
