Jeppe police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing a seven-year-old girl in Sinclair Street, Jeppestown on 30 September.

Jeppe police’s spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyai explained that the little girl was sent to the tuck shop by her mother. “The child came back crying and when her mother asked her why she was crying, the child said the tuck shop owner touched her private parts.”

The victim alleged that it was not the first time the tuck shop owner touched her. “She said he once took her inside his car and made her touch his private parts and later bought her juice, cakes and gave her a R5 coin and asked her not to tell anyone,” said Munyai.

“The mother of the victim came to the police station and opened a case. The 28-year-old suspect was arrested, after investigations, and will appear in court soon,” said Munyai.
