The Annual Fillies and Colt’s Bowls Tournament was held at the Edenvale Bowls Club on October 3.
The tournament, which saw teams from Irene, Randburg, Atlasville, Kempton Park, Alberton, Edenvale and other areas participating, was a one-day, triple tournament.
According to Mrs Jenny Main, one of the coordinators of the tournament, 30 teams participated in the event.
“It was an interclub tournament which focused primarily on the young players,” said Mrs Main.
First place was won by the Randburg team, which included Vanda, Ricky and Darren Clarke.
Second place was won by the Brackenhurst team from Alberton, which included Ivan Mcathnie, Louis Botha and Carol van Niekerk.
Third place was won by Avion From Kempton Park, the team included Johannes Botes, Ginger and Fanie Jacobs.
“The day was fantastic,” said Ms Main.
The president of the Edenvale Bowls Club, Mr Ian McInnes, said it was a good day.
“We managed to fill three greens with players. Once you can fill more than two and a half greens, it becomes wonderful,” said Mr McInnes.
