The Joburg East SAPS cluster has arrested 114 suspects between September 12 and 19.
The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from murder and armed robbery to business robbery and rape.
The Joburg East SAPS cluster is made up of seven police stations which include Cleveland SAPS, Jeppe SAPS, Hillbrow SAPS, Rosebank SAPS, Parkview SAPS, Norwood SAPS and Yeoville SAPS.
“The arrests included five suspects arrested for armed robbery, five arrests for the possession of drugs, one suspect was arrested for business robbery, two suspects were arrested for theft of motor vehicle and four arrests for fraud,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Richard Munyai.
The arrests also included five suspects arrested for rape and one for murder, two for attempted murder and five for armed robbery.
“Three suspects were arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle. One suspect was arrested for child neglect,” said W/O Munyai.
The suspects have appeared in different courts such as Hillbrow, Jeppe and Johannesburg courts.
