Bailatino aims to wow ECID Festival

"Be sure not to miss this fabulous dance team at the festival,"

At the Edenvale City Improvement District’s Festival of Lights and Street Carnival community members can look forward to performances by dancers from Bailatino Dance Studio.

Ms Katy Young, public relations officer and events co-ordinator for ECID, said Bailatino Dance Studio is based in Bedfordview and is run by Ms Claudia Zackey.

Ms Young said the studio focuses on fun and the enjoyment of dance.

The dance studio performs a variety of styles but focuses on three main categories, these include:

She said the studio takes part in competitions both nationally and internationally.

Some of the dancers have represented South Africa.

Claudia Agostinetto (13) has represented both Gauteng and South Africa in dancing competitions.

“At the dance studio I feel as if I am at home, where I can be free to shine through dance,” said Claudia.

Stephanie Backos (14) has been dancing since she was four years old and is a reigning champ in various styles of dance in the South African Championships and has been for the past four years.

“Nothing makes me happier than when I’m dancing. It is my passion and has become my escape and way of expressing myself,” said Stephanie.

Robyn Bond (22) has been dancing for the past ten years has represented South Africa a number of times.

“My passion grows daily to help develop and inspire dancers the same way others did for me,” said Robyn, who assists with teaching at the dance studio.

“Bailatino Dance Studio aims to wow patrons at the ECID Festival Lights and Street Carnival. They will perform some fabulous routines,” said Ms Young.

The Festival of Lights will be held on November 5.
