17 Arrested by Edenvale SAPS

"The police needs the community to be our eyes and ears as we can't always be everywhere," said Capt Olckers.

The arrest of four suspects in sector four was described by Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, as being one of the recent highlights for the Edenvale SAPS.

The four suspects arrested were part of 17 arrests made between September 12 and 19 by the Edenvale SAPS.

Captain Olckers said the four were arrested in sector 4, the Greenstone area.

“They were arrested for the possession of a stolen motor vehicle and for the possession of dangerous weapon. The arrest was made by members of the flying squad,” said Capt Olckers.

Other arrests for the week included 10 drug-related arrests, one arrest for theft, one for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and one arrest for malicious damage of property.

Capt Olckers said the crimes of concern are property-related and include:

  •  Residential burglaries.
  •  Theft of motor vehicles.
  •  Theft out of motor vehicles.
  •  Robbery with a firearm.
