On October 7 Friends of Modderfontein Library will host author Mr Robin Binckes at a talk and book signing.
The event will take place at the Thornhill Estate community centre due to the current construction around the library.
Mr Binckes will be promoting his latest book, “What a Boykie – the John Berks story”.
Ms Dale Cherrington from Friends of Modderfontein Library said Mr Binckes visited the library a year ago to promote his book the “The Great Trek Uncut”.
“It was an occasion which was enjoyed by all present, many of whom eagerly snapped up copies of the book,” said Ms Cherrington.
His latest book is a biography of the radio announcer affectionately known as Long John Berks whose career spanned over 40 years in different countries and various radio stations.
“Mr Binckes is a riveting speaker and with a topic like this, the morning promises to be highly entertaining,” said Ms Cherrington.
The event will begin at 9.30am.
The talk will begin at 10am and there will be time afterwards for interaction with the author who will have copies of his books on sale and for signing.
