Resident wins best dressed at the Polo

When she bought a top in Australia in 2001, she had no idea it would be the talk of the town 15 years later.

Bedfordview resident Advocate Mona Naidoo was crowned the Best Dressed female at this year’s installment of the BMW International Polo series.

The event took place last weekend at the Waterfall Polo Estate.

The NEWS caught up with Adv Naidoo to find out the inspiration behind the winning outfit.

“I bought my top while on holiday in Sydney 15 years ago. For some reason I never wore it and only took off the price tag on Sunday morning while getting ready for the event,” she said.

Adv Naidoo said because the theme for the event was futuristic, she decided to go for an outfit that would reflect that.

“That top just worked. My husband, [Mr] Vis, suggested that I wear the shoes that I did, which are also from my cupboard. I chose that skirt because it brought in a flowy and feminine feel to the bold top and yet it was in line with the theme because of its geometrical shapes and texture,” said Adv Naidoo.

The Trek4Mandela Caring4Girls initiative raises money to supply girls with sanitary towels, making sure the girl child does not miss school while on her period due to lack of sanitary pads.

Affectionately known as Princess Mona, upon her arrival at the mountain’s Uhuru Peak, Adv Naidoo wore gold sandals and a tiara for a photo shoot before beginning the descent.

After their return from Tanzania Adv Naidoo said a photographer earlier told her to take a bag full of fancy clothes up the mountain.

“I took him up on that challenge and made sure I bring in the fun into the climb,” she said.
