Teamwork results in arrest of two

"The officers reacted and arrested the two suspects,"

Two suspects in possession of housebreaking equipment were nabbed in Illiondale on September 12.

The two were arrested by an Edenvale SAPS Crime Prevention Unit member and a neighborhood watch member.

Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, said the pair was observing the area after members of the public reported a number of cases of residential burglaries and house robberies.

“At about 1am the long wait paid off when the officer and the patroller noticed the two suspects entering the area on foot. The officers reacted and arrested the two suspects,” said Capt Olckers.

Equipment used for house burglaries was found concealed on the suspects.

“The suspects, who are in their 20s, will appear in court shortly on charges of possession of housebreaking equipment,” said Capt Olckers.
