Don’t flash expensive jewellery

The brand has sold wristwatches since 1905 and has been seen as a symbol of opulence.

Station commander for Bedfordview SAPS, Colonel Mfihli Matlala has urged residents to refrain from wearing expensive jewellery in public places.

This after a woman was followed home from a shopping centre and robbed of her Rolex watch and cellphone.

Upon taking over the reigns at the station earlier this year, Col Matlala said “follow home” robberies were a problem for the station.

“Women wearing expensive jewellery are targeted in restaurants and shopping centres. We urge our people to please heed our call to leave the stuff at home when going out because they expose themselves to danger,” he said at the time.
