Jeppe SAPS warns community to be vigilant at hot spots

Although we deploy sector vans to patrol these places including other areas in the Jeppe policing precinct we are appealing to people to be more vigilant at all times

The Jeppe SAPS management is appealing to the community to be more vigilant in certain areas that have been experiencing robberies recently.

“The management would like people to beware at the corner of Roberts Avenue, Doris and Juno streets in Kensington where people are being robbed in the early hours of the morning by two or three suspects armed with a firearm,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Richard Munyai.

“City and Suburban at corner M2 and Maritzburg off-ramp is also not safe in the early hours of the morning when people are going to work. There are between two and three men who are committing armed robberies at that place,” said W/O Munyai.

“Although we deploy sector vans to patrol these places including other areas in the Jeppe policing precinct we are appealing to people to be more vigilant at all times. People should avoid walking alone and walk in groups. They must also be careful of not carrying valuable items such as expensive cell phones and large amounts of cash on them,” said W/O Munyai.

“All cases that have been committed in these places have been reported and police are investigating them although no arrest has been made. We appeal to anyone who might have information to come forward and give us information,” said W/O Munyai.

They can contact Jeppe SAPS on 011 624 6000 or 10111.
