AACL make a difference in Bez Valley

'I am very grateful to the support showed by AACL'

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) with the assistance of Cause4Paws had an outreach day at Bezuidenhout Valley on August 28.

The outreach focused on primary healthcare in the form of vaccinations, deworming, and treating animals against external parasites.

“The AACL’s outreach programme has provided primary healthcare to over 1 000 pets in disadvantaged areas over the past 12 months. This valuable service can only continue with the assistance and support of the public,” said AACL’s inspector Mr Rulof Jackson.

“I am very grateful for the support shown by AACL. It is expensive to take a dog to the veterinary clinic. I wish they could come here every two months,” said a Bezuidenhout Valley resident, Mr Sabata Motlalane.

“We thank the AACL staff volunteers for great teamwork and the Unisa students who helped to see the clients and gained some practical experience. The Cause4Paws volunteers along with Pet Drive FNB volunteers, handed out food, blankets, bowls, kennels, collars and leads to animals seen on the day.

“Cause4Paws who also sponsored the vaccines and deworming meds on the day and thank you to all the other volunteers who gave of their time helping with registration, tick/flea treatments, and pooch pedicures,” said Ms Cindy Price from AACL.

AACL will return in two weeks time on September 14 for the next visit to see those animals not brought through on August 28.

“Four weeks later on September 28 we will return for the re-vaccination of August 28’s pets. Thereafter bi-weekly visits on Wednesdays will be made to Hofland Park to offer primary healthcare services to the community at a nominal fee. We thank ward 66 councillor, Clr Carlos da Rocha for the use of the community centre and for engaging with his community,” said Ms Price.
