Suspect to appear in court for possession of stolen car

Capt Olckers said it was found by the SAPS that the vehicle had been stolen in Lyttelton in June.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and the possession of stolen goods after he was arrested by Edenvale SAPS on August 29.

According to Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson for Edenvale SAPS, the suspect was arrested at a Dowerglen shopping centre at 11am.

“Police were alerted by members of the public and security,” said Capt Olckers.

He said that police members followed up on the registration number and discovered that the number was false.

Capt Olckers said it was found by the SAPS that the vehicle had been stolen in Lyttelton in June.

Capt Olckers said that a private security company’s bulletproof vest which did not belong to the man was found in the car.

“The suspect was detained at the Edenvale Police Station and will appear in court soon,” said Capt Olckers.
