Raising funds through golf

Our fundraising is vital to our existence. This is the second golf day that we have done this year

Kitty & Puppy Haven, a non-governmental organisation raised R40 000 on August 26 during their charity golf day at Modderfontein Golf Club.

“We do rescue rehabilitation and we are homing cats, dogs and rabbits. We rescue abandoned, abused and sick animals. We have a strong community service structure looking after animals in the underprivileged areas like Tembisa,” said chairman of Kitty & Puppy Haven Miss Candice Shaer.

“We do a number of fundraising events every year as we are a totally privately funded organisation. We do not receive a subsidy from the government and our operating costs are about R200 000 a month,” said Miss Shaer.

“Our fundraising is vital to our existence. This is the second golf day that we have done this year. We have raised R40 000 on this golf day. We have managed to sell 13 four balls. The turnout is fantastic. It has grown from last year,” said Miss Shaer.

“We are a registered NGO and public beneficial organisation (PBO). We can issue 18A certificate for any donations that are made. I would like to thank the sponsors who made this day possible,” said Miss Shaer.
