Clr Nkomo meets with Greenstone management

Some of the issues discussed at the meeting included the conduct of taxis in and around the centre and the illegal hawkers in the area.

Councillor Bongani Nkomo held a meeting with Greenstone Shopping Centre management on August 16.

Clr Nkomo said the meeting was to discuss some ongoing concerns in the area and the Johannesburg Roads Agency’s operations manager also attended the meeting.

Some of the issues discussed at the meeting included the conduct of taxis in and around the centre and the illegal hawkers in the area.

“During a walk-about, with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and centre management, it was noted that taxis are not parking in designated areas.

“In some instances they prevent deliveries to the shopping centre as they block the entry points. The JMPD instructed the tax drivers to move the taxis.

“A further meeting with the relevant taxi associations will be arranged to establish a working relationship with them,”said Clr Nkomo.

He said the issue of illegal traders was also addressed.

“The JMPD instructed them to report to centre management with regards to compliance and the establishment of a working relationship,” said Clr Nkomo.
