Fond memories shared

May her soul rest in peace

“My mother was a very friendly person. She was always friendly towards everyone.”

Ms Dawn Niemeyer died in a fire at the Jeppe Julius Residential Complex on August 11. Her family, although still distraught at the time of meeting with the EXPRESS, shared fond memories of her.

Ms Niemeyer was born in 1948 on September 4 and lived at the Jeppe Julius Park Residential Complex for more than 15 years.

She started her career as a clerk at First National Bank.

People who knew her said she was a unique woman, a gentle soul with a kind and loving heart.

“My mother was a friendly person. She was always friendly towards everyone. Even though she suffered from depression she always made us smile. She knew how to turn a bad day to a good day,” said her son, Mr Ronald Niemeyer.

“She loved reading, watching television and playing with her dogs,” said Mr Niemeyer.

“I wish I was here to save her life. Mommy, I’m sorry for not being there in time. I would have taken that pain away and saved you.

“No person on earth deserves to die the way you did. I will miss and love you always. We wouldn’t have been where we are if it was not for your support,” said Mr Niemeyer.

Ms Niemeyer is survived by her two children and granddaughters. She was buried on August 17.
