SAPS arrest two for attempted house robbery

"The police officers followed and managed to arrest both suspects,"

After receiving information to be on the lookout for a silver VW Polo, Edenvale’s Crime Prevention Unit arrested two suspects in connection with an attempted house robbery.

According to the spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS Captain Jean Olckers, the two suspects who were arrested on the N3 highway on the Linksfield off-ramp on August 17, attempted to commit a house robbery in Moffatview near Rosettenville.

Edenvale police members noticed the suspects travelling in the silver Polo towards the Linksfield off-ramp and gave chase.

In the process of trying to escape from the police the suspects damaged the back left tyre of the vehicle.

The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

“The police officers followed and managed to arrest both suspects,” said Capt Olckers.

It was also discovered by the police that the vehicle used by the suspects had been hijacked in the Sandringham area earlier this year.

According to Capt Olckers no firearms were found at the scene.

“The August 17 arrests have brought the total number of house-robbery-related arrests to six for the past week in the Edenvale area,” said Capt Olckers.
