Special memories created for 250 children

The Three2Six Ladies Day created special memories for 250 refugee children and the important women in their lives.

A South African non-profit company, Play Africa, in partnership with Three2Six hosted its first Three2Six Ladies Day celebration at Sacred Heart College on August 9 as part of the Women’s Day celebrations.

The day created special memories for 250 refugee children and the important women in their lives.

“250 children in the Three2Six programme came together to have fun and to celebrate the women in their lives.

“This day exposed the children and families to new ways of learning through interactive exhibits and programmes.

“More than 35 volunteers supported the children and their families as they tried new interactive learning experiences,” said the founder and CEO of Play Africa, Mrs Gretchen Wilson-Prangley.

As part of the play day, Play Africa featured and prototyped several of its unique, interactive exhibits and showcased new multidisciplinary exhibits and activities.

Some of the activities included Play Africa’s first hands-on exhibit imagination playground, children’s planetarium, shaping watersheds, art studio, Incwadi yothando and parent support.

Imagination playground is a unique, self-directed play system that transforms any space into a new world of imagination.

The Children’s planetarium introduced children and their families to the wonders of the night sky.

Incwadi yothando was a special exhibit designed around the importance of Women’s Day and expressing love, gratitude and forgiveness toward others.

“This exhibit nourishes the introspective nature in children and families, and allows each person to express their thoughts and feelings by creating hand-written cards to the people they love,” said Mrs Wilson-Prangley.
