Crawford Italia served the community to celebrate Mandela Day.

The term began on a busy note on Monday, with Mandela Day inspiring the school to give to others.

Making sandwiches became a learning experience, with the grade 5 pupils learning to boil eggs and making egg mayo sandwiches. Each grade produced a sandwich with a different filling.

The pupils gave the sandwiches to workers at the school, the Club and Casa Serena. The grade 3, 4 and 5 pupils walked to areas outside the gates to distribute their contributions.

Mrs Els also delivered the grade 2 sandwiches to Compass, a home the school has supported before.

Mr Petro Boers, the acting deputy principal for Crawford Italia, said they encourage the children to make every day Mandela Day and look for ways to do good deeds at school, at home and in their communities.
