SAPS applauds successes as detectives secure theft convictions

"He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment and declared unfit to possess firearm by the Germiston Magistrate court.

Bedfordview SAPS has congratulated Warrant Officer William Madisha and his colleagues within the detectives unit on securing two recent convictions.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi said W/O Madisha investigated a case of theft.

“When a staff member working on a payroll system struggled to balance the books she decided to investigate and found that two suspects had made payments to five people not employed by the company. When she confronted the suspects they did not deny it and she then reported the matter to the SAPS,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

He said both accused were found guilty as charged and sentenced to two years house arrest.

“They must comply with strict condition such as reimbursing the complainant the amount involved over the said period. The duo was also declared unfit to possess firearms for the rest of their lives,” he said.

Following the murder of a domestic worker in 2013, a case was opened and allocated to a detective within the station.

W/O Nhlabathi said the domestic worker, Ms Fundiswa Mkhandlwana had been stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Linda Christopher Radebe.

“The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was certified dead upon the arrival of paramedics,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

He said Mkhandlwana had been living with her boyfriend at a house on Kloof Road where she worked as a domestic worker.

“He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment and declared unfit to possess firearm by the Germiston Magistrate’s court.”
