Elections – who is standing? NEWS gives residents opportunity to meet candidates

All residents are invited to question and answer evening with various ward councillor candidates.

Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS reminds residents they are invited to the #BENewsQ&A with the various ward councillor candidates to be held on July 26.

The event will be held at Edenvale Community Centre at 6pm.

The evening is aimed at granting you, the resident, an opportunity to interact with the candidates, ask questions and familiarise yourself with the options available on the August 3 ballot paper.

“By convening this evening, we hope to allow our readers the chance to know more about the various candidates and cast their vote based on an informed decision. This is not about party politics. It is about residents having the chance to pose questions to those candidates who are contesting the local government elections in the hope of representing the residents of that ward. For example, giving Mr X from First Avenue Edenvale the chance to ask his question about potholes,” said the NEWS’ editor, Marietta Lombard.

The NEWS urges all the candidates for wards 18, 19, 20, 36, 92 and 32 (Modderfontein, City of Joburg) to take part in this event aimed at empowering residents with the necessary information before casting their vote on August 3.

Residents will direct their questions to a specific candidate who will have the opportunity to answer. The floor will then open to other candidates who wish to also respond to the same question posed by the resident. Residents and candidates are urged to read the rules of engagement published at https://www.citizen.co.za/bedfordview-edenvale-news/, headline, Ask your questions.
