Dealer caught in Malvern

The total street value of the drugs is estimated to be R61 000.

Cleveland SAPS arrested a 28-year-old suspect for possession and suspected dealing in illicit substances on July 9 in 51st Street, Malvern.

“The suspect who is a Nigerian national was arrested after the drugs cat and crystal meth were discovered in his bedroom.

“The total street value of the drugs is estimated to be R61 000,” said Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago.

“Metro police came across 100 grams and seven ziplock bags of cat as well as 11 ziplock bags and 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine valued at R61 000 hidden between the suspect’s bed base and mattress.

“The other drugs were discovered in a dilapidated vehicle in the yard. R4 700 in hard cash which included foreign currency in the form of American Dollars and British Pounds was confiscated as it was suspected to be proceeds from the illicit trade,” Lt Col Kgasago said.

The suspect appeared in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court on Monday last week.
