According to the Edenvale SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers the Ekurhuleni North Cluster Edenvale SAPS received threats of taxi violence.
It is unclear when the threats were made or what the motivation behind the threats were.
When the NEWS requested clarity on the situation, senior journalist, Buli Sonquishe was directed to a statement released on social media.
“Greenstone mall (sic) and Stoneridge mall (sic) area around Modderfontein rd (sic) – reports were made of possible taxi violence (sic),” it was stated in the post on social media.
“SAPS members on scene and so far (situation is) calm and in order (sic),” the post further stated.
